Dunedin Chapter members support a local charity that is a world away.
SMALLS for All, collect and distribute underwear to help Women and Children in Africa. They help those living in orphanages, slums, IDP camps and schools, as well as providing underwear to hospitals.
Local is best…..
The charity was suggested by a Chapter member following a post on the Harley Ladies UK Facebook Group page.
It was quickly established that the Charity was within the Dunedin Chapter geographical area. As the Chapter loves to support local charities the “brief” was presented at a members monthly meeting.
Chapter members wholeheartedly supported the suggestion of contributing to SMALLS for All
Donations were collected during two monthly meetings, with a huge boost coming from Paul Nickels the Merchandise Officer who had the support from his team at work.
A total of five large bags of lightly used bras and new pants were donated by members. Representatives of the Chapter visited the Charity in Livingston to hand the donation to Maria Macnamara, Founder & CEO.
Charity visit …….
Chapter members Alex Adams, Margaret Drysdale and Patricia Neville were shown around the premises to explain how the Charity operates.
The aim is to collect underwear for both women and children in Africa. The priorities are new pants and socks for boys and girls plus lightly worn bras for women and girls.
Due to a successful press campaign SMALLS for All regularly receive bra donations. To help as many people as possible, the charity is looking to increase donations of new pants and socks.
Underwear for most of us is taken for granted what SMALLS for All recognised is the life-changing difference underwear can make. Having underwear helps teenage girls complete their education without having to miss school each month during their period.
Dunedin Chapter were thrilled to be able to support this charity with their contribution and were delighted to hear that five other HOG Chapters have also made donations!
The charity is run by Maria and a handful of hardworking volunteers who welcome donations. If you are interested in donating or would like more information you’ll find all details at http://www.smallsforall.org
