About Dunedin H.O.G.® Chapter

The Story of Dunedin H.O.G.® Chapter #9083

OUR BEGINNINGS

1994 – The Year It All Started

When a small group of Harley enthusiasts gathered back in 1994, they shared more than a passion for motorcycles. They shared a vision: to create a community where riders could come together, explore Scotland’s finest roads, and build friendships that would last a lifetime.

That vision became Dunedin H.O.G.® Chapter #9083.

Named after Dùn Èideann — the historic Gaelic name for Edinburgh — our chapter was built on Scottish pride and Harley heritage from day one.

GROWTH & COMMUNITY

From Handful to Hundreds

What started as a handful of riders has grown into one of the strongest Harley-Davidson communities in Scotland — and indeed, the UK. Today, we’re proud to be recognised as Scotland’s largest H.O.G.® chapter, with members from across the Lothians, Fife, the Borders, and beyond.

But we’ve never lost sight of what matters most: good roads, good people, and great memories.

OUR SPONSORS

Proudly Supported by West Coast Harley-Davidson

As we start our new relationship with West Coast Harley-Davidson goes back years — and we couldn’t ask for better partners. As an authorised Harley-Davidson dealership, they keep our members on the road with expert service, genuine parts, and that legendary Harley welcome.

We’re grateful for their ongoing support of our chapter and the wider Scottish riding community.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

More Than Miles

Yes, we ride. But Dunedin is about so much more:

  • 🏍️ Ride Together – From Sunday morning breakfast runs to week-long Highland adventures

  • 🤝 Brotherhood & Sisterhood – Riders who look out for each other, on and off the road

  • 📍 ABC 365 – Our year-round mileage challenge that keeps us motivated

  • 🍻 Social Spirit – Pub meetups, seasonal events, and celebrations

  • ❤️ Giving Back – Annual charity fundraising chosen by our members

  • 🔧 Shared Knowledge – Customising tips, mechanical advice, and bike talk

As one member put it: “I joined for the bike. I stayed for the people.”

OUR SCOTTISH HOME

Riding the Best Roads in the World

From the sweeping curves of the Pentlands to the coastal routes of Fife, from the Borders’ rolling hills to the epic landscapes of the Highlands — we’re spoiled for choice.

Some favourite Dunedin routes:

  • The Fife Coastal Run – Anstruther fish and chips never tasted so good

  • Border Reivers Circuit – History and hairpins

  • Loch Lomond & The Trossachs – Scotland in all her glory

  • North Coast 500 – The ultimate bucket-list ride (often tackled as a chapter trip)

TODAY & TOMORROW

The Road Ahead

We’re proud of our history — but we’re even more excited about the future. New members join us every year, bringing fresh energy, new bikes, and their own stories to add to the Dunedin tale.

Whether you’ve been riding Harleys for decades or just picked up your first Sportster, you’ll find a place with us.

The road goes on. And we’ll be on it — together.

Our officers

Another nice rideout to EHD

Another Saturday visit to Edinburgh Harley Davidson the H.O.G Chapter Dealer Sponsor.

A cold November in 2024 with soup on the boil and some well known faces enjoying the moment.

The document above was collated by Stuart Caplan regarding the tartan we use the “Davidson Tartan” for our kilts and top of the cut downs.

Following on from some discussions in relation to the H.O.G.® Chapter tartan, the document above was created.

A superb document outlining a brief history of Dunedin  H.O.G.® Chapter tartan, tartan in general and also the origins of ‘Dunedin’.
Enjoy.
